How True...!

Erica Jong -"Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame."

Aaahhh!! Taking just the first part of the quote - Taking life in your own hands - I guess there are people who.....

......do this and are happy (Bliss! Freedom!)
......do this but are unhappy (End up looking for support and approval...! Can be confusing! Are they looking for someone to just guide or someone who will take decisions for them? Where does the influence stop?)
......don't do this and are unhappy (Unable to release themselves! Terrible! Blame game indeed)
......don't do this but are happy (Blind followers. Thinking isn't easy anyway? Go get a life?)

Hmmm. Blink. Hmmm. Sigh. Is it parenting that largely determines which category one belongs to? Or is it really about the context. Some people can take their own decisions on what to eat when in a restaurant but not what to purchase when it comes to clothing! Eh?

Hello: I updated my blog template, and added an RSS feeder to view your blog updates (librarians have traditionally named it: current awareness).

Happy blogging.

Hey ash!! It's been a looooong time since you left your comments here. Good to see you on my blog again. :-) So, has this got something to do with your interest in Telepathy? ;-) Hee Hee. So what if I have rambled on the same topic? Go ahead and write a post na. It will be interesting to see what else you were thinking and I know you will have your own flavour to the post anyway. Go for it! I am waiting to read it...

There is hardly anyone who has lived his entire life following one of the four mentioned paths. We keep shifting between these different state of being. That is what makes us human. How free is Free Will? Nice title for a blog..eh.

Rakesh: Yup! We probably keep shifting....depending on what we are doing. Maybe that's why we have people who lead a great corporate life but a messy personal life or vice versa...!? But is there a predominant behaviour that each of us has? If so, is it determined by our upbringing, knowledge, confidence, ability to take risks etc wrapped around that particular context? Is this the package that finally leads the way into one of these behaviours? I don't think I have any answers but I wish I belonged to the first category most of the time! Our family system makes it difficult....! :-|

Indicative of the second category

LOL

yeah...reaction is obviously dependent on all the factors you stated. And of course we do have predominant behaviour. That's the thing which defines 'Personlities'. Being in the first category forever is what frees you from the karmic bondage.

Yeah....! You got it. LoL. That was what was on my mind. The attention that one pays to the family and society in a place like India...hard to get off completely. Which is why I mentioned the impact of parenting in the original post. Could be second or third category actually.

Interesting when you speak about cutting off the karmic bondage. The first variety, I guess, would be happy but less understood by society...good for them that it does not really affect them!
