Reality is what it is. How we perceive and interpret it determines how we deal with it and subsequently what 'happens' to us. We cannot deny the influence that thoughts (via words) have on our perception and interpretation. And, that is also a part of the reality....

Yes, words can be powerful and if used in the right way can be inspiring and motivating people in good ways to form kinder more loving realities that will lead to much more healthful and nurturing human commmunity (our shared reality) and used in a negative, manipulative way in the wrong hands...well, the state of our current nations and world.

Completely agree. That's what people like Gandhi, King, and Swami Vivekananda did! Of course, empty speeches can't hold water for long. These people made a difference because they lived their words!
