There's so much that each one of us needs to learn and not just in terms of knowledge but more in terms of attitude. Perhaps attitude is what adds up to wisdom...different from knowledge as we know it.
I was having a conversation with a colleague who suddenly declared that HR is a "low-level job". I was so shocked that I found it hard to hide my scowl. I am pained that people still think this way; in fact such thinking is what is "low". And this is not about HR but for that matter any job on earth (and other planets if you happen to be an alien)...!
There is no such thing as a "low-level job". It is the person who does the job that determines the way the job is seen. The passion, creativity and sincerity one brings to it can make any job a phenomenal one and something above comparison....
PS: Nonetheless, if you are a HR person, I guess this may make you ponder over the image that HR apparently has amongst the techies.

Yes, the mythical image that HR apparently has amongst the techies is of low level job only. Sadly, branding of [Engineering + MBA] has other side effect. People consider 'Finance' as only great sector by comparing salries. The money value insted of market value is considered in ruthless yet ignorant mind of techies.Sorry to say, Its still a mob minded world..
H'mm....not just the money value...but the perception that anything technical is cool is predominant!
Initially i used to have a high view of the HR. I used to imagine them as people interface yet the truth was in stark contrast to what i had imagined. Its hard to find a HR person who commands a good respect from a techie engineer. And that is reasonable, taking into account how the HR person behave.
I know that just due to the actions of few individuals HR cant be admonished. Hopefully things will turn out good and HR be more free from politics and skirmishes ! :)
I agree with you to a large extent, Prashant. To be honest, I am yet to have the opportunity to interact - AT WORK - with a HR person who comes across as sincere, genuine, and serious about work. I have had the opportunity to see such HRs in blogosphere and on the Internet in general...but at work...no...not yet I guess. Even I've had a lot of juicy things to say about some of the HRs I have seen so far...
Of course, in this context, I am talking about the job per se....rather than the people who perform that job. I too hope HR folks do enough and do right and get their due...and change their pathetic image..!
